What is LIDAR?
Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) is a remote sensing method used to examine the surface of the Earth. It works by emitting laser light toward the ground and measuring the time it takes for the light to bounce back to the sensor. This time, combined with the speed of light, is used to calculate the distance between the sensor and the ground. Drones equipped with LIDAR sensors emit laser pulses to measure distances to the ground, creating high-resolution 3D maps of landscapes, infrastructure, and vegetation, vital for various analytical and planning purposes.
